“I meet people who have often been seriously injured, don’t know where to turn and are at their lowest ebb. It’s up to me to try to help them get the compensation they deserve so they can put their lives back together.”
Joanne is a specialist personal injury claims solicitor with expertise in a wide variety of accidents and injuries. She became a Partner at Tayntons in 2011.
With 25 years of experience, Joanne acts for clients that have suffered injuries as a result of an accident or illness dealing with consequences such as serious head injury, spinal injury, fractures, and soft tissue injuries, like whiplash and back strains. Joanne also specialises in the psychological consequences of an accident, including post-traumatic stress disorder, phobic reactions and anxieties.
Joanne also has substantial experience in clinical negligence claims and is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL).
Joanne recognises that personal injury and clinical negligence cases are often contentious as they involve helping injured clients who feel they are up against seemingly ‘impersonal and uncaring’ insurance companies. As such Joanne and her team try to ensure that their clients get the treatment that they may need, the financial support to help them when they can’t work and the compensation that they deserve. The needs of the client and their wider family are at the heart of everything they do.
Recent cases Joanne has worked on:
- Settled a personal injury case for £1.3 million where liability was contested in a 5-day hearing.
- Established liability in a road traffic accident case where value will be in excess of £8 million and where the defendants felt there was no case to answer.
- Acted for a client with bipolar who struggled with the process and the injuries sustained and achieved settlement in excess of 60k.
- Has successfully represented clients in cases arising from injury at birth and stillbirth.
Joanne was awarded an Honours degree in English and Related Literature Degree from the University of York in 1990. She completed Common Professional Examination in Law in 1991 and the Law Society Finals (Legal Practice Course) in 1992, both at Wolverhampton University.
