David qualified as a solicitor in 2015 and initially practised in well-known law firms around the Cheltenham area, including the local office of a national firm, a top-200 regional firm and a niche commercial property firm. Prior to joining Tayntons in October 2024, he had been working for over 2 years as in-house legal counsel at the UK’s largest electric vehicle charging point operator, playing a key role in delivering the rapid roll-out of public chargers.
David is experienced in dealing with a broad range of general commercial property matters, including freehold/leasehold acquisitions and disposals, development, property finance and corporate support, but with a particular specialism in landlord & tenant and asset management.
Examples of David’s previous work include:
• dealing with a wide range of asset management work on behalf of investor and fund manager clients, relating to multi-let offices, shopping centres, business parks and industrial sites, and advising a regional airport on a range of day-to-day property management matters;
• representing well-known retail and leisure clients on commercial property matters, including a national coffee shop company, an Irish-based betting shop operator and two UK franchises of a Danish variety store chain, as well as acting for a German adult gaming venue group and an Irish footwear retailer on their expansions into the UK high street;
• acting for charity clients, including an animal welfare charity in relation to retail premises and rehoming centres, and a first aid charity on the restructure of its national property portfolio;
• assisting clients in the science & technology sectors with complex leases of R&D centres and laboratory premises (including a COVID-19 mass diagnostic testing facility);
