High Court awards £453 million in billionaire divorce
May 12, 2017
A Russian billionaire who recently sold his company for over £1 billion has been ordered to pay his wife £453m in a divorce settlement at the High Court.
The payment in this case has been described as one of the biggest awards made by a UK court in divorce proceedings.
The 61-year-old, former oil and gas trader, met and married his ex-wife in Moscow before moving to Surrey with the 41-year-old from Eastern Europe.
Mr Justice Haddon-Cave awarded the woman 41.5% of the “total marital assets” with a ruling made preventing the man and the woman from being identified.
Neither party was in court for the ruling.
