Free business training is a hit at Tayntons Curry Club
August 21, 2014
Go and improve your business through your staff was the key message from the speaker at Gloucester-based Tayntons latest Curry Club.
Business leaders from all over Gloucester flocked to the solicitors regular networking Curry Club on Thursday, June 19, held at Vinings restaurant in Gloucester Docks
Around 40 people attended the event, and as well as meeting other business people and enjoying a delicious meal they listened to a talk about staff training opportunities from Kieran O’Donoghue, Marketing Director of HR Champions.
Kieran spoke about HR Champions partnership with the Growing Skills Programme which is an initiative from Serco and GFirst LEP aimed at equipping small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) with the necessary skills to help business growth.
Funding is free and courses range from customer service and IT to team leading and managerial skills.
Kieran said: So far, the Growing Skills Programme has delivered training to businesses in Gloucestershire worth nearly £800,000 in funding to 200 employers across the county.
We have supported 766 individuals of which 705 have embarked on a training programme, with 400 individuals now having achieved certification.
Any SME in Gloucestershire has an opportunity to get free funding for training, but this is only available until Tuesday, July 15. So get a move on, go and improve your business through your staff.
All of the businesses that received training have recognised the benefit as they have seen the potential growth rate for their business.
It’s all about building a better, more profitable county.
He wrapped up the talk with a well-known proverb:
A CEO is discussing staff training with his Chief Financial Officer.
The financial officer says: But what if we invest all this money in staff and they leave?
The CEO replies: What if we don’t and they stay
Alan Bird, Senior Partner at Tayntons said: We are very pleased that Kieron could come and give us such an informative speech about training initiatives in the county.
We urgently encourage all small and medium businesses to consider their training needs before the funding comes to an end in July.
The next curry club will be announced on Tayntons website.
